Enough with the Sentimental Crap... Almost

The last post took a lot out of me emotionally. It was very difficult to relive and put into words what happened that day. The comments that everyone left buoyed my spirit when I truly needed it. Again. You all are stupendous.

Surfing through old posts, looking for additional comments (cause yeah, I'm desperate for attention like that), I found questions that SillyHily had left for me regarding what I like most and least about my city. For me, those are fairly simple to answer.

First, what do I like most- obviously, family and friends. I can't stand the idea of moving away from everyone that is important in my life. My momma, my best gals, even *cough, gag, hack* my sisters and in laws. (Kidding, I love my sisters. We are all just complete opposites and don't often see eye to eye). It’s scary to think of facing life and new challenges without my support team by my side.

Also, I cherish being in a big city. No, I'm not a party girl or anything, but it's wonderful to have so much to do and plenty to see. I appreciate having museums, parks and historical attractions that I will one day be able to share with my child. The people for the most part are friendly and helpful. Though, we definitely have our share of hate and violence, which is obviously not an upside, but frankly that's a disadvantage in every large metropolitan area across America.

Now, what do I like least? Easy, I am a proud Southerner, but also... a Democrat and the two don't always mix well. This is the Bible Belt for a reason, and therefore, Republicans and fanatical religious wingnuts (that's said with love, people) abound in great numbers. It's hard to feel like the country is progressing when you live in a place where the word homosexual is still practically a curse word. My ideaologies certainly aren't the norm for this area.

I've had dreams of moving one day. Preferably to a house like this:

Or this (by the way, this is the GUEST house, as Andy didn't realize he was missing the main house when snapping the pic):
(If you're wondering, these pics were taken while on vacation. They are just a couple of the houses in the neighborhood where Andy's aunt and uncle live. We call it PARADISE.)

But, let's face it, not likely. So, left with all the other options, we've considered moving to somewhere outside of the US of A. Of course, nothing is going to happen for several decades, I'm sure. I figure since that's the case, I better appreciate what I do have and where I live.

I agree with your likes and dislikes. If I get behind one more car that has a damn "W" sticker on it, I might run them over. But, that's just me.
